Abstract We have designed and tested a device based on non-Newtonian fluids for the attenuation of tangential impacts energy in helmets. A shear thickening fluid borurated silicones has given best results terms impact system that selectively mimics this reason it been used to fill chamber pad, prepared by additive manufacturing, dissipation. The pad is composed case containing which immersed rigid pin free move all direction therefore able absorb during its movement inside fluid. motorcycle helmet, already two concentrical expanded polystyrene (EPS) liners, implemented with seven pads between EPS layers. layers only connected means dissipating are rotate dissipate rotation. oblique according ECE 22.06 three positions, shows reduction brain injury criterion 14% helmet pads, compared standard values well below threshold imposed norm.
